Don't get me wrong, I love Sonic Youth and really like No Age, but this venue made me wish that I was seeing them somewhere else. The energy of No Age and Sonic Youth was almost lost in such a large outdoor venue. I have been a Pavement fan for a long time, but now Pavement is music that is in the background when I am working and I don't want anything bothering me too much. I thought that Pavement was dull, I guess I didn't feel like going back to the early 90's. I feel better as one of the oldest people at the Smell, my clothes sticky with sweat and brick dust. Move forward and move on, I don't want to be like a boomer that is seeing the same bands and listening to the same music until I die.

I'm so accustomed to seeing SY in smaller venues, this was great for them, yeah the short set sucks but there's three bands and Pavement was fantaaasstic. The weather was great, like a Phil Collins album. Malkmus, wow, the best.

Aside from the far away seats, the sound was great. A bit weird to watch a concert and stare at a screen instead, because the on stage the performers look like ants...It makes it all worth it when you are in the company of friends and booze. Both Sonic Youth and Pavement played all the songs I wanted to hear, plus SY opened with my favorite song, "candle." It was a great night.
