Over its three-decade history, the Playboy Jazz Festival has hosted the biggest names in jazz from Miles Davis to Ella Fitzgerald. 2012 marks the 34th year of the festival and will feature music from the Christian McBride Big Band, Ozomatli, Boney James, Sheila E., Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Ramsey Lewis Electric Band, Robin Thicke, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Keb' Mo', Terri Lyne Carrington and more. Held at the Hollywood Bowl, the festival offers two terrific days of music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Description
The perennial icon of musical cool makes a rare live concert appearance in celebration of his six-decade career. Ranging from big band to the most happening stars of today's pop, R&B, and hip-hop, this evening will be a historic performance and a glittering gathering.
Jones is the recipient of an Emmy Award for his score of the landmark TV miniseries Roots, seven Oscar nominations, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, 27 Grammy Awards, and the Grammy Living Legend Award. He is the all-time most nominated Grammy artist with a total of 79 Grammy nominations and a Kennedy Center Honoree.
