Great. Took me back to the old days. Love the theater, inexpensive popcorn, ambiance. Was fascinated with the dynamics of the musicians and their expertize; Ray's piano playing shots; the "dated" to me, choreography of the Rayettes; and the shots of the various audience members; Ray's feet movements while playing, and the virtuoso musicality of the players. Obviously the film makers did a fabulous job of piecing together the sight and sound of fifty year old patchwork of film and audio. Also liked the Q and A afterwards. All in all a special experience.Written on Oct 21 2011

Description
Ray Charles - Live in France 1961, 2011, Reelin’ in the Years Productions, 105 min.
Lost for 50 years, these newly discovered concerts were filmed at the 1961 Antibes Jazz Festival in France and present Ray Charles in his prime with the original Raelettes and his legendary band (including David “Fathead” Newman and Hank Crawford.) These debut performances in Europe opened the door for Ray Charles to become one of America’s most revered international stars.
Produced by the Grammy-nominated filmmakers at Reelin' in the Years Productions (and distributed by Eagle Rock Entertainment), this concert is taken from original 16mm films that have been newly transferred and digitally restored. The films have been kept securely over this long period at Ina (the archives of the French Public TV and Radio) whose collection tops up to nearly half a million hours of digitized TV content of all kinds.
Panel discussion following with director David Peck, producer Tom Gulotta, Ray Charles catalog authority James Austin and York University associate professor of ethnomusicology, Rob Bowman, moderated by Ray Charles' biographer David Ritz.
