Horrible sound quality-- got better throughout the night, but for the first 30 minutes it was very hard to understand what any of them were saying. Seats were VERY uncomfortable, which made the show feel longer than it actually was. Actors did a good job with the material they were given, but the material wasn't great. Some nice melodies, but then a number of songs that just didn't seem to fit. It seemed like the creators were trying to make the show 5 different things instead of 1 cohesive show. Choreography was decent, but not great. Singing was generally very good.

Katrina Lenk (Hester) stole the show!!! She is truly a one of a kind talent. (Kudos to Mark Luna also for a good performance).

Very interesting take on the classic Hawthorne tale. Some bad sound control in places (especially at the beginning when the actors are actually trying to establish the plot!) making specific segments indistinguishable, but the singing voices were excellent. The two leads in particular, Katrina and Mark, were strong and compelling to watch.
This show doesn't contain the greatest melodies ever written and was a bit uneven from time to time, but with some re-working I think it could be a wonderful rock opera. I'm glad I went!

Reading "The Scarlet Letter" was one of the worst experiences of my public school career. But, adding kick-ass music, great songs, stunning actors and some skimpy costumes has turned Nathaniel Hawthorne's literary version of waterboarding into a fantastic night out. It has to be seen to be believed. Don't miss it!

I actually really loved the show (but then I would ! As I performed in this production (same author/composer/producer) 15 years ago. It was great to hear the smart, catchy and dramatic songs again. This production is very good for the most part...Strong voiced, attractive performers acted their roles excellently. BIG FLAW...the sound system sucked. The music (and voices, when the mics weren't cutting out) were way too loud. It's not the "Kodak", it's a 150 seat club.....too loud! Also...too smokey, people with asthma think twice. Goldstar was great, the show was great!!

The sound was bad at times, making it difficult to understand what was being sung, especially in the beginning when all of the actors were singing. However, the lead female had an amazing voice and was the best of the performers.

This is such a great rock opera -- the performers are absolutely electric! The last time I felt this way about a piece like this was when I saw RENT for the first time in a little performance space.
Also, the King King club is really cool -- it was a great night out!

this was one of the best shows I have ever seen! It should be in a larger venue in the future, however the tiny club atmosphere was an interesting change! Wowie!!!

The music and lyrics were good, thoughtful and understandable. Just the beginning and ending chorus singing was a little hard to hear. Very good performance overall! I had a good time with my friend, and the songs were stuck in our heads afterwards, a good sign that we liked it.

Although I was already familiar with Mark Governor's "The Scarlet Letter," this production of "shAme" still managed to impress me with its revamped songs and talented cast of players. The King King was the perfect venue due to its intimate size. This is a must-see for all!
