While this event was fun, it was not exactly what I had expected. Based on what I had read online I was expecting to walk into a bar, that had been turned into a 1920's speak easy. What the event was in reality felt a little more like a themed, liquor industry tasting event. The selection of liquor was top notch however, and I was able to sample many different high quality spirits. My only real complaint was the VIP room. While the name would infer "exclusivity", there was nobody at the door checking to make sure you had, in fact, paid for the VIP ticket. The extra food that was promised was insubstantial, and almost immediately gone. The room was also small, and had nothing else going on inside of it except for a few tables and the extra barman with some exclusive vodka and some beers. With the live band in the main room, we never spent any time in the VIP lounge.

As a whole, I had fun at the event because I got to dress nicely and go out with some friends and try something new. I don't regret attending, but I do feel that the extra money that was charged for the VIP service for no where near worth it.

Truth be told the event was a glorified liquor tasting event. I was disappointed, for such a great theme, I felt so little was done. Had it not been for the guests that had come dressed, it would have been hard to guess what the theme of the evening was. There were images of chandeliers that had been projected on the walls, and as promised a band. oh yes and the black and white film that was playing at the front entrance.
I had decided to change my general admission tickets to VIP tickets. This was a mistake. The VIP lounge was another bland room. No music, barely any decor. and what Gourmet Bites?

The good news is that the beverage selection was outstanding and vendors were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was more of a starter to my evening than an actual night out. Overall, the value of this event was no where near ticket price. The so called VIP room was emptied of both champagne and food within the first 90 minutes of doors opening. Paying an additional $75 for access to this room was a big mistake. Organizers also did a poor job of creating a true Speakeasy environment. It was more like a Swing band in a banquet room. It's unlikely that I will attend another Eat Drink Play event in the future. Not unless it's free!

It was sold as something it wasn't. I was expecting a nice evening of music, dance, food, and fun. It ended up being a promotional event to sell products. Which was ok in itself if thats what it was sold to be. Truthfully, i would not have gone if I knew what it really was.
