• Lichtman is very funny, and her playful interaction with the audience is a delight. --LA Weekly

Description

“I never expected to walk down the aisle for the first time at 55, with a man 17 years my junior. I was barely out of diapers” Lichtman admits, “when I began searching for Mr. Right. That's what I was taught. At 5 there was Dickie, Jerry at 6, ...by 12, there was Elliot, Harry & Arthur, all named Levine. I loved them all from afar; spending over half a lifetime totally frozen by fear.”

Following our heroine’s journey from fearful adolescent to terrified bride, the audience roars as this middle-aged Jewish woman morphs into a six foot chocolate covered Mr. Clean - Winston Williams, her Jamaican gigolo who liberates her womanhood. “He told me I’d thank him one day, and I do, I do,” Lichtman quips. “But that freedom blinded me and led me on that emotional rollercoaster too many women travel.”

HOPE is the core of this story; Lichtman shows us it’s never too late to realize our dreams. Only after many, many illuminating experiences (and wonderful characterizations) does Linda finally look that “fearball” in the eye and begin to live a purposeful, loving life. “I had to taste the bitter before welcoming the sweet.”

While performing stand-up at The Improv in New York City, Linda Lichtman was quickly snapped up by WNBC to become a popular radio personality along with Howard Stern & Don Imus. Her late-night show, “Midnight Rainbow” mixed it up with interviews, music, chit-chat, and general impromptu impudence. In recent years, he has appeared in films, commercials, and theatre productions in around Los Angeles.

“The Bride Can’t Stop Coughing” was produced in workshop at Beyond Baroque, and ran as a hugely successful fundraiser at The Odyssey Theatre.
