After a 42-year run, this Broadway show closed in New York in 2002 with the distinction of being the world's longest continuously running musical, not to mention one of the most beloved. The Fantasticks is a story about young love, featuring the hit songs "Try To Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain." Tom Jones (Book and Lyrics) and Harvey Schmidt (Music) created The Fantasticks in the spirit of a whimsical Romeo and Juliet.

”Try to remember the kind of September when life was slow and oh so mellow… and if you remember… then follow.”

Starry-eyed audience, worldwide, have followed the tale of two young lovers, who live next door to each other. However, the road of love is not so easy, as it must be kept secret from their feuding fathers.

Under the magical baton of the infamous rogue El Gallo (who is also the play’s narrator), fantastical adventures ensue, illuminating the realities of life.

Dreams conjured under moonlight are exposed to the harsh light of day and in the end the truth is revealed: “Without the hurt, the heart is hollow." And the play is not done until the audience has been “burned a bit and burnished by the sun!”
