The Open Fist Theatre presents a re-imagined version of Bertolt Brecht's The Good Woman of Setzuan. Set in the imaginary city of Setzuan in pre-communist China, the play explores themes of good and evil, love and betrayal and male/female identity. The Brecht approach uses song, dance and style to create a humorous and provocative look at how humanity deals with love, money and social injustice.

Open Fist Theatre presents the world premiere of A Life of Ease. In present-day Oklahoma, Yale shares a deep kinship with his grandmother and he dreams of the "good old days," forever bemoaning the signs of progress that keep creeping into his town and into his life. When his grandmother has a stroke, he may have a chance to go back to another time -- but, as with so much of life, not everything is as it seems. Learn More

A delightful staging of this play with a terrific cast and gorgeous set and costumes.

I took my family age ranging from 14 to 75. All agreed the plot was pulled too much to make a 3 hour play. However, the concept was good...it just needs to be shortened or more depth added. If you are tired, don't see this play. If you are full of energy, see the play. It's nice to go see a play that is encouraging to be good, kind, giving to others and turning away from bad habits.

Great show! Highly entertaining and I am proud to be in Los Angeles and find these kind of productions and talent. A MUST SEE.

The Open Fist Theatre presents a re-imagined version of Bertolt Brecht's The Good Woman of Setzuan, directed by Charles Otte and original music by Elizabeth Swados (Runaways). The play is an alternately humorous and shocking look at how society deals with poverty and philanthropy. Set in the imaginary city of Setzuan in pre-communist China between world wars, the play explores themes of good and evil, love and betrayal and male/female identity. Brecht uses song, dance and style to create an often humorous and always proacative look at how humanity deals with love, money and social injustice.
