Hit Rock Musical HAIR Returns to Hollywood

With spirited music and colorful characters, HAIR remains an audience favorite, long after its original Broadway debut in the '60s. Indeed, the 2009 revival cast recording was Billboard's top-selling Broadway album. High-energy inspirational songs like "Aquarius," "Let the Sun Shine In," "Good Morning, Starshine" and "Easy To Be Hard" continue to stir theater audiences as they witness a "tribe" of politically-active New York City friends searching for answers in turbulent 1967. Though the long-haired bohemian companions may look different in style from today's youth, they face the same essential struggle to separate from their parents, define themselves in society, and stand by their personal beliefs in the face of pressure to conform. Award-winning production company theTRIBE performs this electrifying musical, whose original cast recording was America's top-selling album for 13 weeks. Learn More

Extremely well done! I have not seen theatre this good in a long time at a small theatre. This production added some very nice humorous spots to take the tension off of some of the intense, and naked, situations. The actor who played the title character couldn't have been better cast, he was absolutely adorable. Mrs. Robinson brought all the necessary seduction that was needed for this wonderful role. KUDOS to all! A must-see production!!!Written on Apr 07 2009

I've not seen the movie (I know...where have I been??) and didn't know much about the story. This was probably to my advantage so I wasn't constantly making comparisons. I enjoyed the 'periodness' of it--so 60s! The actress playing Mrs Robinson was I think the strongest actor. Staff was friendly & helpful. Overall an enjoyable time!Written on Mar 23 2009

If you want to see a live version of the movie, this is a pretty decent version (except for the final church scene which is difficult to do on stage). Material slightly dated, but some humorous moments. No real surprises vs. film except for the nudity, which was probably unnecessary. Set nice, acting generally ok...Mrs. Robinson was best, and the male lead looked good, but seemed a bit stiff in 1st act.Written on Feb 18 2009

I am a fan of the 1967 film with Dustin Hoffman and have seen this play in Boston with Katherine as Mrs. Robinson. El Centro Theatre's production has a very small cast but they work very hard to pull it off. The set design was incredible and ingeniously became a bedroom, hotel room, bar, apartment, and church. The lighting and music were also seamless. I was disappointed that Mrs. Robinson was played as a demanding, aggressive woman and didn't stay true to Anne Bancroft's sultry, seductive, cunningly manipulative portrayal. NOTE: There is a lot of nudity in this production, both from Benjamin Braddock and Mrs. Robinson.Written on Feb 12 2009

More Information About The Graduate
Description
Adapted by Terry Johnson from the novel by Charles Webb and the motion picture screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry.
Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me? Based on the landmark 1967 film, The Graduate is a wry and witty look at the social and sexual mores of the 1960s. Recent graduate Benjamin Braddock comes home from college and promptly becomes embroiled in an affair with the wife of his father's business partner... and her daughter. With its theme of innocent youth betrayed by a corrupt older generation, this biting satire defined an era and perfectly captured the spirit of the times.
