Tony Kushner (Angels in America) has freely adapted Pierre Corneille's delightful story The Illusion for the stage. As Pridamant, a rich old lawyer, nears the end of his life, he's tortured by one regret. His pain drags him far from home into a magician's cave. As he enters, a smart, funny mystery begins in which a father perceives his son as his son pursues his passions.

More Information About The Illusion

Description

Come to the theater, which will masquerade as a cave, and join Pridamant, the rich old lawyer from Avignon, as he experiences a magician’s magical world and discovers the secrets of his only son’s life. Will these secrets soothe the old man? Will they bring him joy or pain? Will he be able to return home peacefully, die happily and quietly? It is uncertain. Is there such thing as love? Can a handsome man be monogamous? Can a cunning and beautiful woman be triumphed over? Is love possible without money? Both the audience and Pridamant will find answers to all these questions in the strange visions produced by the magician and his unusual assistant, who endures unbearable pain to unveil the truth….
