The Laramie Project was created following the murder of Matthew Shepard, the gay university student who was beaten and left to die on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming. It is a thought-provoking and emotionally riveting theater experience of a small town at the epicenter of an incomprehensible crime.

really enjoyed the performances in this ensemble piece. sensitive material was handled with respect and love. very glad i was able to attend!

Excellent acting range by an ensemble in performing this very moving play.

It was very enlightening to know how things work down in Wyoming. It was a great cast, very well done.

The Laramie Project is a docudrama about a horrendous 1998 hate crime, the brutal and fatal beating of a gay college senior named Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The worldwide media coverage turned Shepard into a martyr symbolizing random acts of violence. That single event is reexamined within the framework of a portrait of Laramie, its citizens and their reactions to the tragedy and the effect of being in the eye of a media storm. It uses the power of theater to force us to face the unsettling questions about the potential for violence in even the most ordinary corners of the American landscape.
