The funeral of Sister Rose Marie, an alcoholic religious disciplinarian, brings together twelve outrageously diverse flawed Harlem characters in this acclaimed play by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Sister Rose Marie may have been a mean drunk of an Irish nun schoolteacher, but she caused her former students to examine the many lessons they've learned from her as they struggle against the tide of their lives, sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing, in doing the right thing. And there's one other complication: somebody has stolen the body. Learn More

This play was almost a 10, had it not include one last scene that stretched the length of the play to an almost painful length. With the exception of this particular scene (a professor is confession his infedelities to Judas), the play was excellent; the venue was confortable and the perfect size, and the stage set was well put together.Written on Feb 26 2008

I've seen better acting on high school stages. My daughter and I were really disappointed. The reviews that I read must have been written by the actors in this play. We drove a hour and a half only to be let down by a very bad playWritten on Mar 17 2008
