Hit Rock Musical HAIR Returns to Hollywood

With spirited music and colorful characters, HAIR remains an audience favorite, long after its original Broadway debut in the '60s. Indeed, the 2009 revival cast recording was Billboard's top-selling Broadway album. High-energy inspirational songs like "Aquarius," "Let the Sun Shine In," "Good Morning, Starshine" and "Easy To Be Hard" continue to stir theater audiences as they witness a "tribe" of politically-active New York City friends searching for answers in turbulent 1967. Though the long-haired bohemian companions may look different in style from today's youth, they face the same essential struggle to separate from their parents, define themselves in society, and stand by their personal beliefs in the face of pressure to conform. Award-winning production company theTRIBE performs this electrifying musical, whose original cast recording was America's top-selling album for 13 weeks. Learn More

"Hilarious Hollywood Satire?" Nuh uh. Not this version. The acting was uneven at best, and the cast of four (the two women were stronger than the men) just couldn't bring this production to life. The few bright moments weren't enough to rescue it.Written on Jun 06 2011
And El Centro...PLEASE do a fundraiser and buy seats that are a little more comfortable. Ouch!

I gave it two stars to be generous. there were a couple of good scenes but overall, this was not a good production. The main lead actor had her moments but flubbed her lines a lot. The male actors were cute, especially Alex but couldn't act for beans. and the other female lead wasn't good.Written on Jun 06 2011
Overall, not worth going.

The script is fantastic. The acting was split, with the girls delivering better than the boys. But still worth catching.Written on Jun 06 2011

The acting was atrociously bad. I've seen better performances...everywhere! I attend alot of small theatre and can't recall anything as poorly acted as this. The only reason I stayed after intermission is that the play did contain some funny lines. There is so much good stuff out there to spend your entertainment dollars on. This isn't one of them.Written on Jun 06 2011

Description
Playwright Douglas Carter Beane reveals the true nature of Hollywood in The Little Dog Laughed. The play is a fast-paced, hilarious look at the world of celebrity and the down-and-dirty politics of show business. No one is exactly who they say they are. No one reveals exactly what they want, except in private and under duress.
Directed by Jeremy Witcher, we follow the adventures of Mitchell Green, a handsome young movie star who could hit it big if it weren't for one teensy-weensy problem: his hard-driving Hollywood agent can't seem to keep him in the closet.
Trying to help him navigate Hollywood's choppy waters, the devilish Diane is doing all she can to keep Mitchell away from the cute rent boy who's caught his eye and the rent boy's girlfriend, Ellen (wait, the rent boy has a girlfriend?).
When Mitchell and Alex become involved in a physical relationship, Diane is concerned that what she describes as Mitchell's "slight recurring case of homosexuality" will derail his career before it gets started.
Will there be a happy ending as the final credits roll?
