What a GREAT movie to show in 3-D. I had never seen a movie in 3-D before and this one, with its fantastic art as well as storyline, made for a really fun experience. It was very easy to pick up the tickets from will call. The theater is gorgeous and they had decorated the sides of the stage with Halloween decor that looked straight out of the movie. The live organ music playing as we entered also added to the night and put us all in the mood. I would definitely suggest getting to this show earlier than we did. It was so popular that 20 minutes before show time, there was hardly a pair of seats together in the house!

The El Capitan Theatre is a great place to see a movie! The whole experience was great, especially seeing the film in 3D. It's such a unique venue. We got there early, so the general admission seats seemed just as good as the VIP seats at less than half the cost.

This 1993 stop-motion animated film has already achieved the legendary status of being immortalized in the Disneyland attraction, "The Haunted Mansion", each year from Halloween through Christmas. For those who have only seen the 1993 version, you're missing a great experience as this film has been updated to have 3-D effects. Danny Elfman's score has left us with at least one or two memorable songs from the film, and provides the right atmosphere for this macabre film with a dark sense of humor.
The film was shown at the beautifully restored El Capitan theater; a wonderful venue that makes seeing a film a true pleasure. Ornate ceilings, lovely decor, and an organ show for 20 minutes prior to the film brought to life the film viewing experience of the past. The organist, who has been honored with awards as best theater organist, played a set of Halloween influenced songs to entertain the crowd.
This Halloween/Christmas film is slowly becoming a new holiday "classic". It tells the tale of Jack Skellington, an undead skeleton who is the PumpkinKing of Halloweentown. He organizes festivities for a Halloween celebration each year. He stumbles into another realm, Christmastown, where it's Christmas year-round, and realizes that he wants to use his talents to bring Christmas to Halloweentown and vice-versa.
His love interest, Sally, is a rag doll who feels that the elements from Halloween shouldn't be mixed with Christmas, and tries to stop him from replacing Santa Claus on Christmas Eve in Christmastown.
To a comedically horrific effect, Jack masquerades as Santa and gives kids magical toys that eat other toys, and inadvertantly ultimately menaces the kiddies. After the kids and their parents react with horror over these Christmas presents and send militia out to blow Jack out of Christmastown, Jack journeys back to Halloweentown feeling a failure. Sally helps him realize that his greatest gift is being the best Pumpkin King he can be.
The film shows a magical world with spectral dogs and villainous creatures as well as a skeleton with a heart that longs for the spirit of Christmas.
Hopefully El Capitan will be bringing this back each Halloween season as it's an experience to be shared with a large audience on the big screen.

Excellent show! The digital clarity of the print was great. The 3-d aspect was just ok. The movie is translated into 3-d, but it really doesn't pop out of the screen like a made in 3-D movie would. The 3-D aspect of it is contained with the screen itself. I parked across the street and it was $2 for 4 hours. Will call was a breeze. Even though I had general seating up in the "rafters" to the right, it didn't interefere with watching the picture.

This is the perfect movie to watch in 3-D!. The sound quality at El Capitan Theatre was premium, and the live organ music before the show topped it off! Highly recommend!

What a special treat! A fantastically fun 3-D movie in an absolutely gorgeous theater, plus the truly wonderful live organist on a historic instrument played live on stage before the show! Will make this an annual Halloween tradition! I highly recommend it for all ages.

The show was great! The theater was decorated just for this event & it looked amazing. I was so excited that it was in 3-D & then forgot that it was also a singalong... that just made it even better. The entire crowd participated... I've never seen anything like it... I would definitely go again!

This was way more than anything we expected! From the delightful Disney store/Soda Fountain next door (we had no idea it was there, as this was our first time to the El Capitan), to the decorated theatre, the live organist and the awesome display downstairs... it was an evening of swirling through, not just the movie itself, but the flavors, sights and sounds of the movie all around. The El Capitan is beyond gorgeous... I should look so good at 81 years old!! This isn't a great pic, we were trying to get Jack in the photo behind us, cell phone cameras limited our possibilities... BRING A REGULAR CAMERA! There are photo ops everywhere :-) A big Thank You to GoldStar for making this event financially doable for this single mom :-)

We took 6(!) 13 year old girls to the 11:30 show. The film was a favorite of our birthday girl. We all loved the 3D effects, which were throughout the entire movie, rather than bits and pieces, so you kept the high-quality glasses on the entire time. Not too many people sang-a-long with the verses on the bottom of the screen, but many of our girls did. We got there an hour before the film was to start, so we had our pick of the general seating upstairs. We highly recommend it. Check with the theatre regarding parking - they may validate at the lot across the street (we didn't.)

What a cute little Halloween flick! Never saw it before and it was cool to see it in 3-D. The live organ music when you first walk into the theatre was an added bonus. Parking at Hollywood and Highland is always a pain, but it's only $2 for parking for the first 4 hours since the theatre validates parking. I couldn't believe how expensive a large popcorn and a drink was! $10!?!? But, great movie for kids. Catchy songs and it was neat to see all the pieces of the original set downstairs.

I attended with my 10 yr. old son and we both enjoyed it. We arrived early and were able to get great seats. The pre-show music was amazing. We made an evening out of it with the show first then a bite to eat at the neighboring soda shop.

Parking was easy and cheap. I picked up my tickets (11 in total) a few minutes before 6pm. I think they gave some out even before 6pm because others were already in the line. You have to get in line early if you want a pick of your seats. The line looked 400 long by 6:30pm. The theater staff was very nice. It was decorated in theme. There was an organist who played from about 6:30 to 7pm. The seats aren't the greatest because you can't move the cup holders up, out of the way. Concessions are VERY expensive. Theater was pretty clean. The show was nice. I wish there was more to the 3-D. The countdown was the bast 3-D effect, sad to say. I was wondering if it even really showed in DISNEY 3-D. Right next to the Disney Soda Fountain and Ice Cream shop.

I love the artistry of this film. I went to the sing along version and I was disappointed that I was the only one in the audience that wanted to sing. I thought that this version would bring out the true fans but I guess I was wrong! I also dressed up and did my make-up in the style of Tim Burton. I was disappointed when I arrived and only a hand full of other people were dressed for the occasion. The audience was also full of people making out. Yuck! The organist that opened the show was awesome and so were the 3d effects. With the right audience this would have been an amazing experience!!!

Fantastic. The 3-D was more than I even imagined it would be, and picking up the pre-paid tickets at the box office was so easy: no waiting in line and no fear of forgetting the tickets at home!

I've been meaning to go to this for years, and I was so pleased I finally went! I'd seen "Nightmare" many years ago in non-3D, but watching it at the El Cap in 3D was truly a fantastic experience--Disney's flagship theater just made it that much more grand. Watching the movie just reminded me that Tim Burton and Danny Elfman really outdid themselves on this one--their vision and their scoring just can't be beat! (Kinda hope someday it becomes a live-action musical!)
