Disney's The Secret World of Arrietty comes to the historic El Capitan Theatre in the heart of Hollywood. A Japanese animated fantasy film for children of all ages, The Secret World of Arrietty explores the magical world of the Borrowers, tiny people who take up residence in other people's homes and "borrow" things to get by. Based on Mary Norton's acclaimed children's book series (The Borrowers), this film adaptation was created in Japan and originally directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi of the renowned Studio Ghibli. The English-language version was directed by Gary Rydstrom and features the voices of Bridgit Mendler, Amy Poehler, Carol Burnett and Will Arnett. During this run at the El Capitan, visitors will also be able to take in an exclusive, on-site exhibit of Studio Ghibli art.

I loved everything about this movie. The story, the vibrancy of color and animation. Good family entertainment. Bonus was the exhibit downstairs.Written on Mar 01 2012
The only thing was we had to rush because we did not have enough time viewing. Perhaps, if we were allowed to enter the theatre right at 9.00 p.m. as they told us, we would have had a little more time before the movie.

It's a film for those adults or mature audience who appreciate this type of animation only. Although beautifully done I do not recommend it for children at all. Its too slow and the story line was not engaging. The voice overs in English just didn't carry over very well with the animation I think. I'm sorry to say, it was boring.Written on Mar 05 2012
