Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)
Created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Moon landing, British filmmaker Tony Palmer made this spectacular film about NASA's space program and in particular the lunar explorations that led to the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. NASA provided unprecedented access to its archives and its Deep Space satellite imagery -- which Palmer wove together with respect and a deft hand.

It was fantastic.The sad note is most Americans taken this unbelieable event very casual.We must honor our heroes
It was an old movie, so as expected, not what we're used to watching. It was fabulous having the director of the movie and Buzz Aldren there.

The movie was frozen in time (1978) artistically and technologically. The guest speaker "Buzz" Aldrin was thrilling to see live. But he was an irrascible old man (duh) and therefore, less than charming. The theater is beautiful and the manager's enthusiasm for the event was infectious.
Binding the broadly-sourced footage together was Palmer's inspired selection of a young Mike Oldfield to score the film. Preceded by special presentation of footage from NASA's launch this year of the Beatles song "Across The Universe" into Deep Space.
