A fun evening. This talented improv group intermixes real-time live video into their performance. It appears to be a considerable added challenge for the artists - but adds a wild element to the improv formula. What I found especially cool was using video didn't turn all the sketches into take-offs on television programs/commercials. There were off-the-wall conceptual pieces where the video added another point-of-view to the action, or allowed two simulatneous improv scenes to play off each other.

As in most all audience-involved theatre, a lot depends on the quality of the audience's suggestions. A dull audience can hamper the performers; a hip and engaged audience stimulates the actors to make crazier/smarter choices. That's the fun of improvisational theatre.

I'd highly recommend catching this show -- I know I'll be coming back, and will be looking forward to seeing a completely different evening.

Having expanded into Los Angeles at Theatre Asylum in 2007, C.A.F.E.’s Artistic Director Matthew Quinn is excited about Tilted Frames Los Angeles premiere. “Tilted Frame was created to explore the live performance use of video and the internet,” says Matthew, “I feel the techniques we’re exploring are not only wonderful entertainment, but are also valuable techniques usable by playwrights and creators of new media, or anyone in Los Angeles and into entertainment wanting to look outside of the box.”.
