This event had great music, great guests and spectacular fireworks that truly "Wowed" the crowd. Even the moon cooperated and made an appearance over the bowl just as "Moon River" was being sung in duet. Really a fantastic night!Written on Jul 13 2009

Bench seating was great! The view and sound from anywhere at the Hollywood Bowl is amazing. I love the Mancini event and how they paired the music with clips from the films. An overall lovely night - bring a picnic basket or you'll feel left out!Written on Aug 18 2009

The evening was magnificent. Matter of fact any evening featuring the supremely-gifted Dave Grusin holds musical magic. Grusin who scored such films as The Fabulous Baker Boys, On Golden Pond and the Milagro Beanfield War is the ultimate piano artist capturing the essense of the music with a minimum of needless notes. He's long been an exponent of Mancini having cut (one of his near 100 records) "Two for the Road" (the music of Henry Manicini) That album includes (besides the title piece) Days of Wine and Roses, Hatari, Whistling Away the Dark, and Baby Elephant Walk. All the foregoing featured pieces in the evenings entertainment. Love Mancini? Listen to Mr. Dave Grusin; he'll not disappoint.Written on Jul 13 2009

I loved the Mancini night, but felt, in some ways, it was poorly produced. They missed opportunities that could have added greatly to the evening. The music is undeniably great, but they should have introduced Richard Chamberlain before the clips, so that he could properly and personally set up what we were about to see and hear. Then after the clips, and he spoke, he walked off with no fan fair or appropriate applause. I felt that Monica Mancini lacked warmth and although she has a lovely voice, did nothing to enhance the memories of her Dad. The film clips should have been identified on the screen, for sometimes clips and portions just appeared, leaving the audience guessing as to what they were watching. Julie Andrews was perfect, as usual.Written on Jul 13 2009
