An Evening With His Royal Hipness Lord Buckley
- Full Price:
- $20.00
- Our Price:
- $10.00
'50s comedian Lord Buckley's jazz-influenced delivery and surreal use of language made him a major influence on Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor, among others. Jake Broder re-enacts his routines, backed by a live jazz trio, in a performance the Los Angeles Times has called "the coolest show in town." This tribute is a joyous celebration of the routines of the late counter-culture comedian who was a cabaret legend beloved of Al Capone and Frank Sinatra and who continues to influence pop culture today. You can expect laughs, shock, outrageous contemporary satire and some great tunes. Learn More

Thought it would be more of a lecture, but it was an amazing group of talented writers and performers workshopping their material and getting great professional notes. LMAO and learned a thing or two. Best of both worlds.Written on Mar 17 2008

I felt completely welcomed and entertained. I thought that the venue was terrific and for anyone interested in learning to develop their writing skills, fleshing out their life stories and to practice delivering them in a comedic way, this is the place to go. I will definitely monitor this class again and look forward to signing up for it myself. Tremendous support is provided in a safe environment with intelligent and very professional feedback.Written on Feb 04 2008

I am a writer with no ambitions to stand-up comedy. I audited this workshop because I knew it focused on writing, and I was curious. It was a fun time in a supportive atmosphere I could see being helpful to aspiring stand-ups. In addition to working on creating a set that reflects your own personality, the workshop also gets you weekly practice being on stage and working with a mic and a crowd. I won't be going back to the workshop because I didn't realize it was so focused on stand-up sets, but I'd recommend taking a look if you are, too (focused on stand-up, that is).Written on Apr 09 2009
