Great time from start to finish. Before this great night of music, had not really not caught the holiday spirit. This show was like a Santa Claus injection to the heart. So many highlights I can't break them apart. Hope this is a new holiday tradition!

Lots of singers, most -- if not recognizable themselves -- with legt B'wy credits, performing a relatively brief (about an hour) but action-packed revue of mainly Christmas, or at least seasonal, songs; only one of them (the closing O Holy Night) overtly religious.
The singers were fine, of course, and most showed a lot of personality. The most serious glitch (and that wasn't much of one) involved images projected on screens behind the stage: mostly, they were of the performers, but sometimes just holiday stuff (Santa, snow, etc.) and some of the transitions were muddled. Me, I'd have stuck with the onstage action, relegating the scenics to before the performance.
I saw the first show of the evening, and the room (on the first night of Hanukkah!) was full, if not overflowing.
Would I see it again? You bet. And I'd arrive earlier, in hopes of a better seat -- but that was my miscalculation.

More Information About Upright Cabaret's Broadway Christmas Revue

Description

Upright Cabaret is a wildly popular Los Angeles night of song featuring an eclectic mix of artists from stage, record and screen. Cabaret is synonymous with New York City, but in sunny southern California Producer/Host Chris Isaacson has turned cabaret into a hip and contemporary social swirl of young Broadway and Hollywood.

In the Golden Age of entertainment, Hollywood supper clubs like the Coconut Grove hosted all of the great stars of the day and helped define an era of style and sophistication that Hollywood was famous for. This was also a time when Hollywood stars could sing, act, dance and most importantly…entertain. Upright Cabaret has successfully reclaimed that era against a modern day backdrop of paparazzi, glitz and glamour in one of the hottest neighborhoods in the City of Angels.

Upright Cabaret boasts one of the most extensive and diverse rosters of talent in the country. Broadway divas, talented troubadours, cabaret legends, Hollywood notables, pop sensations and many future sensations have all found their way to the Upright stage.

Upright has featured cast members from over 75 Broadway shows as well as stars from Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Cold Case, How I Met Your Mother, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, House, Nip/Tuck and countless other film and television productions. This roster, combined with out of the box marketing techniques and the company's knack for attracting press have helped Upright Cabaret reach a wide and diverse audience.
