In this Victorian farce by Brandon Thomas, Oxford undergrads Jack and Charley arrange for Charley's Aunt Donna to chaperone while they entertain some young ladies. But when her trip's delayed -- with the girls en route to the big date -- the quick-thinking chums convince a male buddy to play the aunt's role. When the real aunt shows up unexpectedly, well, things really get crazy! This popular show about young love and lost love has been a long-running Broadway hit and was adapted into a 1941 film with Jack Benny.

Malcolm and Teresa: True Story of Reporter Inspired by Famed Nun

Full Price:
$15.00 - $41.00
Our Price:
$7.50 - $20.50

Irish Catholic playwright Cathal Gallagher penned this engrossing 2007 drama based on the true story of a British journalist whose life underwent a profound change after meeting Mother Teresa. Initially attracted to the Bolshevik ideals of the '20s and '30s, a staunchly liberal Malcolm Muggeridge was bitterly disappointed and disillusioned to find millions of people starving in the Ukraine under the strong-arm rule of Stalin. But it's only years later, when the BBC host interviews the then-little-known nun, that he takes the first steps of his own deeply spiritual journey. Muggeridge is often credited with bringing Mother Teresa -- and her tending of the poor and starving -- to worldwide fame through his subsequent 1969 documentary Something Beautiful for God and book of the same name. The A.D. Players present this regional-premiere production. Learn More

The theater was quaint, and the seating old movie chairs...set the mood.
The play was very entertaining, no lulls or dry spots, the intermissions were set just right and the actors were great. We are not "play" people but this was a real treat!

This play was originally performed in London in 1892, and on Broadway in 1893. Just like yesterday, the Victorian openings were a sell out with long runs, and rumor is that it is performed every day somewhere in the world since then.
It has also been a movie several times, and revived as a musical.
It is a classic British farce and done in 3 acts with two short intermissions. It is a piece of History.
We loved it, and so did the rest of the audience.

About the Ticket Supplier: A.D. Players

A. D. Players, or After Dinner Players, was founded in 1967 by Jeannette Clift George. The troupe of part-time actors performed its first performance in 1968, and seven years later, in 1975, the Players created a Touring Company. In the late 1970s, the Players purchased the Grace theater building. Soon, the Touring Company was making an international performances, and the Players also established the Theater Arts Academy, originally providing drama classes to children. A. D. Players continued to grow through the early nineties, even expanding with the building of Saint Street Annex, which served as the new home for costume shop, Touring Company, rehearsal hall, and Theater Arts Academy. The company also started Houston's first year round children's theater at St. Luke's United Methodist Church Rotunda. In 1997, A. D. Players made their off-broadway debut of John His Story at Lamb's Theatre, New York City.

The future of A. D. Players is bright. In 2003, the company purchased over three aces of land in the Galleria area of Houston. The purchase of this land will enable A. D. Players to consolidate six current theater locations, including a 450-seat Mainstage Theater, a 300-seat Children's Theater, and a 150-seat Black Box Theater. This new facility, located in one of the top tourist destinations in Houston, will enable A. D. Players to continue serving the Houston community with its unique artistic signature of hope and faith.
