At the dawn of a new day, Polly wades into the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, a small container secured to her body that holds her mother Jule's ashes. Polly is seeking closure today -- namely to the swimming lessons of hers that were halted 25 years ago, when she was just 9 years old and her mother suffered a sudden stroke. Now, she may be physically alone as she swims farther and farther out into the Atlantic, but Polly's thoughts, to which we're granted access, are filled with significant figures in her life. Chief among these mental manifestations are: Jule, before and after her stroke; her father Mort; as well as Esther and Johnny -- two Hollywood icons that served as Polly's imaginary helpers in caring for Jule. Experimental, emotional and avant-garde, Pollywog is the first full-length play from emerging playwright Keian McKee. Learn More

About the Ticket Supplier: Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company
Mildred’s Umbrella began in 2001 when local actress Jennifer Decker and poet and playwright John Harvey (Ph.D., University of Houston Creative Writing Dept.) decided to bring together a group of artists and actors to create a collaborative theatrical piece written by John Harvey. The production was a success, earning positive press attention and the attention of many other local artists who wanted to be involved in future productions, and inspired the duo to achieve non-profit status and make plans for another production.
Over the course of several years and under the energetic guidance of artistic director Jennifer Decker, Mildred’s Umbrella has expanded to also staging Houston premieres of work from other playwrights and to searching out opportunities for creative collaborations with other local theater groups and artists.
