The curators of this annual comedy theater event scoured submissions from around the country before selecting the top four farces for production. Family-friendly and super funny, these original one-act plays will get a full stage treatment at Lambert Hall for your enjoyment. The show opens with Super Salad Days, a comedy about aging superheroes and their nemeses gearing up for one last battle, followed by Emergency Room, a timely satire about one man's inability to pay his medical bills. After intermission, the hilarity resumes with a middle-aged Barbie trying to extend her shelf-life in The Way We Were (Marketed) and Scene Change, where a simple attempt to set the stage turns into a theatrical thrumming that would do the Three Stooges proud.

Wait Until Dark: Thriller From the Writer of Dial M for Murder

Full Price:
$15.00
Our Price:
$7.00

A Broadway hit and the basis for the popular 1967 film, Wait Until Dark is a suspenseful thriller written by Frederick Knott (Dial M for Murder) about a blind housewife who must outwit a trio of criminals. Led by the psychotic Roat, the thugs terrorize Susy Hendrix in her New York apartment, believing that she possesses a heroin-filled doll they had smuggled into the country. This masterfully constructed thriller moves from one moment of suspense to another as it builds toward an electrifying, breath-stopping finale. David Hymel directs this UpStage Theatre production. All acts were entertaining however I did not find two of them all that "laughable". The super heros was defintely the best for this 50-something audience member. The last one was slapstick and funny but went on too long. Didn't find much to laugh at in the Barbie act. For the price I would go again. Plus they actually offered a heck of deal that night on season passes for 2012-2013 more than 1/2 off! And they are going to have some great plays this coming season.

I enjoyed the first 2 plays very much. The third play was okay, but thought the fourth play wasn't too funny at all. However, there was a little girl who sat in front of us that thought it was hilarious, so maybe it was geared more towards the kids on this one. Overall, the Old Heroes was the best and most funny.
