Pianist Rafal Blechacz, one of the emerging superstars of the world of classical music, comes to Wortham Theater Center. The Polish musician was recently awarded the 2014 Gilmore Artist Award, a prestigious accolade given only every fourth year to one of the world's top concert pianists. Blechacz is no stranger to such acclaim, however, as he was the winner of the 2005 Frederic Chopin Piano Competition, where he swept every First Prize. Blechacz's brilliant technique and musical sense have earned him bookings at top concert halls around the globe, and six hit albums on Deutsche Grammophon. Learn More

We arrived late but heard the last and main event Four Play which was spectacular.
It was a nice event. There were are variety of booths well laid out. Discovery Green and it's water scape is a nice area to have an outdoor event. There is plenty of parking downtown within
reasonable walking distance.
We look forward to attending again next year.

About the Ticket Supplier: Jazz Education, Inc.Jazz Education Inc. (JEI) was founded by Jazz artist Bubbha Thomas, who saw a need to fill a void where music education and youth were concerned. With a grant from The National Endowment for the Arts, he started an 8-week "Summer Program for Youthful Musicians" at St. James Episcopal Church. Seventy students attended the first FREE session. Since then, JEI has grown from a part-time-one-program project to a daily operation with full and part-time employees. The roster of activities ranges from mini-performances featuring national artists to annual programs ranging from an in-school educational program serving more than 30,000 elementary school children to a five-week workshop-serving more than 200 teenagers (middle school through college age) to an International Jazz Festival.
To date, JEI has earned recognition on the local, regional, national, and international levels as one of the most stable and consistent forces in the effort to create a wider audience for Jazz. The organization has been the recipient of many honors including the American Can, Centering the Arts, the Barbara Jordan Award and a Certificate of Congressional Recognition in tribute to its many years of splendid service to the community.
Jazz Education Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization sponsoring three main programs (The Jazz & Poetry Series, Summer Jazz Workshop, The Houston International Jazz Festival) and several special projects. Jazz & Poetry is an educational/enrichment program helping elementary school children develop an early appreciation for music. The Summer Jazz Workshop produces many of America's top young music talents through a combination of master classes, lectures, small and large ensembles, video presentations, and demonstrations. The Houston International Jazz Festival; which features international, national, regional, and local Jazz musicians, enhances Houston's reputation as an arts center and attracts Jazz aficionados worldwide.
