Written on Nov 03 2012Ok, overall the event was good; Enjoyable.
The PROS: The music was awesome, zydeco, salsa, r&b; there was a great musical variety. The drinks were adequately strong and tasty, they didn't try and stick you with watered down margaritas. It was a very nice day out, the food was good as well, there was a good variety. There were no children running everywhere, GREAT! Everyone was nice and helpful, cheery.
The CONS: The whole ticket/cash system....was confusing. Tickets for drinks only, but you can buy some food with it; Other food was cash only. I think it should be changed to one system either tickets, or cash. I prefer tickets.
The tents were not adequately labeled.....especially the important ones, such as the 'Will Call'/'Ticket Sales'/'Margarita & What type of margarita was being dispensed at that stand'
The LINES....we went early thankfully around 12:30pm. But around 3 pm when everyone decided to show up, it was heinous with the lines! I think there could have been a better layout for the tents to decrease the line length, also this once again falls into the adequately labeled booths, waiting in a very long line only to find out that you can't get what you want....disappointing.
So! with that being said....I think that overall it was a good event, not bad for a maiden voyage. There are improvements to be made, maybe even a change in venue? But I would love to see this happen annually. It was a nice time out for adults.
Written on Oct 22 2012This event was okay. It was their first so I can't complain too much. It was live bands and good company but the liqour was watery and not much to choose from. The signage for the tents could have been better and they should invite actual vendors to come . Like chachos or monterys little mexico. That is acutually what I expected.
Written on Oct 21 2012One of the worst events ever attend. Will not do so again. Purchased VIP ticket. They ran out of food, ice, margaritas, every thing. Stood in line for an hour for drinks - non-frozen margarita mix. Even with all these issues, the vendor, Ford's Bartending Service allowed what appeared to be friends, go behind the $1 Drink Bar and refill their glasses with the margarita mixture. Left when event became political - Sheila Jackson Lee speech.
Written on Oct 19 2012The event was not very organized. The lines were extremely long to get in and once inside, the food and drink lines were long also. There were no clear directions about the tickets they were selling until you got to the front of the line. You could only purchase the tickets in multiples of 10. If you only needed 2 more tickets, you would have to get back in a line for 20 min only to be told you had to buy 10 more. Almost all of the vendors ran out of food, Some of the drink spots ran out of margaritas and you didn't find out until you were at the front of the line to find out they only had beer left. I was not pleased with the organizers at all.
The best part of this festival was the performances.
