Claire Trevor School of the Arts - UCI Orchestra
UCI Symphony Orchestra Performs Mendelssohn and Schumann
Join conductor Stephen Tucker and the UCI Symphony Orchestra for a wonderful concert at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Written when he was only 17 years old, the program includes Felix Mendelssohn's Overture
to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream
, a prime example of the composer's early genius. The orchestra, made up of students, faculty and staff, will also perform Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 1. The "Spring Symphony" was originally performed in 1841 under the baton of Mendelssohn, lending a cohesive theme to the performance. The program will also include a concerto performed by the winner of this year's Concerto Competition.
