Gravity is no match for Diavolo Dance Theater's daredevils of dance as they leap, fly and spin with power, elegance and a thrill of danger in their acclaimed work Transit Space. Influenced by the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, this kinetic, high-flying work explores themes of loss and community while using skate ramps and half-pipes as set pieces to represent an urban environment. Led by Artistic Director Jacques Heim, Diavolo's an internationally renowned modern dance company of dancers, gymnasts, acrobats and athletes. Learn More
The festival presents a premiere work dedicated to the flamenco of Morón de la Frontera. Moron, a tiempo y a compas is an ode to a singular style of flamenco found in this tiny village. Juana Amaya’s company includes her uncle, the legendary guitarist Juan del Gastor, her daughter Nazaret, and other musicians and dancers from Moron. This marks the first time that Juana will have performed with her uncle, make these performances a tribute, as well, to the del Gastor legacy that she and her daughter have inherited.
