One of rock's all-time greatest acts takes the stage live at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine. Def Leppard is synonymous with the hard rock scene of the 1980s. They may not have been the hardest rocking band, but they captured the tone of the times better than anyone else. Emerging from the glam rock of the 1970s and adding big melody to the heavy-riffing sound, Def Leppard was catapulted to success by their savvy recognition that the new music video channel MTV was key to getting their music out to the mainstream. With a series of exciting videos, Def Leppard gained instant fame for their 1983 release, Pyromania. Although plagued by misfortune, including the tragic car accident that took drummer Rick Allen's arm, the band persevered and became one of the few metal bands to survive the decade and keep going strong. Their many hits include "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Love Bites," "Animal" and "Hysteria."
