Bring the family and spend a summer night with Captain Jack Sparrow and the Pacific Symphony, as the orchestra performs the soundtrack at this outdoor screening of 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl from Disney Live in Concert. Maestro Richard Kaufman conducts the orchestra's rendition of the thunderous Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer score. The first film in the hit series starring Johnny Depp gets Sparrow and his sidekicks, played by Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, into swashbuckling trouble as they try to recapture the ghost ship commandeered by his nemesis, the mutinous Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Come early and picnic on the lawn, then settle in to see -- and hear -- a great movie with great music.

The event itself was great. The Pacific Symphony was amazing and the timing of the score was perfect. My only issue was with the Verizon Center itself. When we arrived, the Will-Call line was so long that we had no time for a "picnic on the grass." We arrived an hour early and barely made it to our seats in time for the start of the show.

It was a lot of fun to see the movie on the big screen outdoors. It was amazing to have a live orchastra playing the soundtrack along with the production.

The event was amazing. Whenever the Pacific Symphony plays to score of a film, it is a must attend. The only down side is that I picked the side log seats, I could see the screen just fine, but could not see the vocalist. I did not even know they were there until after the show. Overall, it was a wonderful night.

My son and I really enjoyed the presentation. It was a good movie to combine with the Pacific Symphony. However, I was expecting something different. I did not realize it was just watching the movie with the symphony playing. We own the movie. I was hoping or thought it would be the symphony playing the music with some narrative and excepts from the movie. It was still an enjoyable night.

The largest orchestra formed in the U.S. in the last 40 years, the Symphony is recognized as an outstanding ensemble making strides on both the national and international scene, as well as in its own burgeoning community of Orange County. Presenting more than 100 concerts a year and a rich array of education and community programs, the Symphony reaches more than 275,000 residents -- from schoolchildren to senior citizens.

The Symphony offers a popular Pops season led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman. The Pops series stars some of the world's leading entertainers, and is enhanced by state-of-the-art video and sound. Each Pacific Symphony season also includes Café Ludwig, a three-concert chamber music series, and "Classical Connections," an orchestral series on Sunday afternoons offering rich explorations of selected works led by St.Clair. Assistant Conductor Maxim Eshkenazy brings a passionate commitment to building the next generation of audience and performer through his leadership of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra as well as the highly regarded Family Musical Mornings series.

The Symphony offers moving musical experiences with repertoire ranging from the great orchestral masterworks to music from today's most prominent composers, highlighted by the annual American Composers Festival. The Wall Street Journal said, "Carl St.Clair, the Pacific Symphony's dynamic music director, has devoted 19 years to building not only the orchestra's skills but also the audience's trust and musical sophistication so successfully that they can now present some of the most innovative programming in American classical music to its fast-growing, rapidly diversifying community."

In addition to its winter home, the Symphony presents a summer outdoor series at Irvine's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, the organization's summer residence since 1987.
