The Fourth of July wouldn't be complete without a fireworks celebration, and the Pacific Symphony has Orange County's most popular one. A perennial favorite with Goldstar members, the Pacific Symphony's annual concerts are a perfect way to celebrate our nation's birth while spending time with family and friends listening to audience-friendly music. Eagles tribute band Windborne will team up with the orchestra to provide stirring and soaring interpretations of hit songs like "Take it Easy" and "Hotel California." The program also features an 80th-birthday tribute to celebrated film composer John Williams, patriotic favorites and a salute to the U.S. armed forces. The evening will end in spectacular fashion with the fireworks finale.

I always love the orchestra and patriotic music. I knew more songs from the Eagles than I expected. The music, mood and fireworks were all excellent. I attended last year and loved it just the same. It was good to have a bigger crowd this year.

Great event. Fantastic music. My daughter, her husband, my son & I knew the words to all the songs! The military salute always brings tears to my eyes.

Overall we really enjoyed this event. The symphony was classy, polished, and performed flawlessly. The music was fun and upbeat. The Eagles cover band did a great job and sounded spot-on. The fireworks were plentiful and was much more than we expected. It seemed like they had a bunch of finale explosions in a row!
So there's the positive stuff.... now here's where they could have done better:
Nearly all the concession stands were closed and we had to walk from the grandstands all the way down the hill and back up again just to get a $9 Bud Light. Why were the concessions closed? We don't count? The stands were just as full as the rock concert, so why not cater to us as well?
There was an awkward intermission where the music just stopped and then the house lights came up with intense full brightness. WHOA!! My EYES!! How about a warning folks!! Some people started leaving! What the hell? Couldn't somebody have taken 15 seconds to announce that it was an intermission before the cover band came to stage? Also, when the Eagles-style band played, the volume was so low that I had to whisper to my fiancee while speaking to not offend those sitting next to me. HOW THE HELL CAN I WHISPER AT A CONCERT? Does somebody have access to the damn volume knob? My Grandma plays Frank Sinatra louder than that!
Also... why the hell is it that every time I'm walking down that long long path to get to the venue that some idiot in a van or golf cart comes driving against the grain of the crowd? Seriously? You didn't know there was a concert tonight? Also... when you have a dinnertime event... SELL SOME FOOD!! HELLO!! Kettle corn is not food! FYI!
Also... get creative with the lighting. The bleached white walls were as stark as a hospital operating room. Who do we have to sleep with to get some damn colored lights at a concert event. Yes I realize it's not a rowdy crowd, but would some red and blue lights be considered "Heathen"? Finally.. why did they make the crowd freeze while exiting and force us to stand in huddled masses for 20 minutes for no damn reason? Hot ambers from fireworks? Well okay then... how about this.. play some more damn music after the fireworks then. It's called T-I-M-I-N-G people!! I really don't want to stare at the back of uncle Bob's hideous toupee and smell the coffee/cigarette breath of the old lady next to me while I'm trapped in a mass of a thousand people. How about another song maestro?
"...You can check out anytime you like, but you never leave." (How's that for a funny tie-in?) BOOM Review done!

Traffic control was non-existent. 45 minutes to get into the parking lot from the freeway off-ramp. Add another 20 minutes in the will call line and this evening was now too stressful to enjoy.
