Edmund is a newbie novelist struggling with his first book. Sweetie is a spoiled Upper East Side teen with a major lack of motivation. The two would never have crossed paths except that Edmund decides to support himself by tutoring rich kids for the SATs. The only thing he expected from the job was a lot of cash. What he didn't expect was to find his muse. The bratty but bright Sweetie manages to inspire him, bringing his characters (literally) to life. With a fun and energetic pop score, this new musical takes on the issues that every young person coming of age will recognize -- family drama, creative angst and romantic blunders -- with a wit and wisdom that will leave you smiling. The play was very entertaining, the second half especially. The actors all performed their characters very well, definitely worth seeing. Thought a 2 PM matinee would have just a few people in attendance, but to my surprise the theater was almost full. The show was over at 4:30 and just right timing for happy hour at the Flat Iron Grill.
Running Time: Approximately 2 hours, 30 minutes.
