Under the artistic direction of Louis Robitaille, BJM Danse has become an intensely creative company, attracting some of today's hottest choreographers. For their performance with ArtPower!, the company will be showcasing contemporary works by three prolific dance-makers whose choreography has never been seen before in San Diego. Vancouver-based Wen Wei Wang's high-voltage Night Box
takes on the sounds and rhythms of the city, exploring love, loss, sexuality and joy. Israeli-American Barak Marshall's new work, set to have its U.S. premiere at The Joyce Theater this October, will be performed to a soundscape of jazz, Israeli folk music and traditional French-Canadian music. The company will also perform work by Spanish-born Cayetano Soto, whose work The Guardian
has praised as "lyrical, ingenious choreography." There will be an ArtTalks! conversation with the artists following the performance.
