Few places in the world capture our imagination like the American West. From the range, ranch, reservation and roadhouse, from the valley of the Rio Grande to the Bitteroot Mountains, the National Council for the Traditional Art's Don't Fence Me In: Songs, Music and Poetry of the American West tour explores the region's celebrated musical and oral culture. Cowboy songs and poetry, western swing fiddle and vocal harmonies, lively Tex-Mex polkas and rancheras, and Northern Plains powwow drum and song are performed by exceptional artists--all working cowboys and other authentic representatives of today's western culture. The night's entertainment features Wylie and the Wild West (cowboy songs and High Plains yodeling), North Bear (Northern Plains Powwow drum and song), The Quebe Sisters Band (Western Swing and Texas fiddling), Los Texmaniacs (Tex-Mex Conjunto) and Paul Zarzyski (Cowboy poetry).

If you are looking to do something different... this was a rare opportunity to experience cowboy songs and poetry, high plains yodeling, western swing fiddle and vocal harmonies, lively Tex-Mex polkas and rancheras, and Native American drumming.

The only downside (especially on a cold and rainy day)... was that the parking is so far away from the venue.

Enjoyed the unique music program. For a 8pm start time, it was somewhat too long. Parking was a disaster. After we parked in a lot, we were told we would receive a $60 ticket. After much confusion managed to get to lot and ride shuttle. Missed the first 30 minutes of performance. After the performance had to wait in pouring rain for the shuttle to arrive. No organization. We were 4th in line, but others crowded ahead so we had to wait for the 2nd shuttle. Staff needed to provide some assistance and organization.

Pretty fun. Some of the 5 acts were better than the others. This is a fairly long show - 2 1/4 hours with a 15 minute intermission.
