wonderful day, what an adventure. our only disappointment was that the sea was a little too active that day, so for our own protection we weren't able to kayak in the caves. but our guides were great and we still had a great experience. highly recommended.

A fun day out on the water. it was cool and overcast the day we went but the guide was pleasant and informative. It wasn't as physically demanding as I was told...you could basically drift behind the group if you wanted to.

On the day we went, the Goldstar ticket was the same price as if we had walked up to the window without a reservation. Kind of a scam on their part...

My son and his girlfriend were the ones that went, but they told me all about it. They had a good time. As others have said, the caves are not as special as they are made out to be...seeing the wildlife is more of a treat, they said.

The one thing that almost ruined the trip for my son was that he didn't even think about the effect that bobbing around on the choppy water might have on his equilibrium. He got quite dizzy and motion-sick, so that definitely tainted his enjoyment of the experience. He wished he had popped a Dramamine or Bonine earlier, and it would have been much more enjoyable. He reported that the people were very friendly and was proud that his was the only kayak in the group to make a perfect landing! They listened carefully to the instructions and followed them, unlike their comrades, who tipped over, I guess, on the way in.

Description

Please note:  ONE ticket purchases one double kayak for TWO people. A party of 2 needs to purchase only one ticket!

Explore the beautiful sea cliffs and caves while kayaking the La Jolla Ecological Reserve filled with marine life including sea lions, leopard sharks, Garibaldi, and even dolphin. Kayak tours do not require any previous experience.

The kayaking tour starts with a brief paddling instruction and kayak lesson with your certified kayak tour guides. Paddle through the surf to start this kayak adventure off, then paddle to the La Jolla sea caves including the Arch Cave, Sunny Jim's Cave, the Clam's Cave, and others.

Check out the California sea lions sleeping on the cliff or swimming around playfully in the water. The last and largest sea cave along the La Jolla seacliff is the Clam’s Cave, named after its unusual double-sided shape. A tour guide will likely take you through the Clam’s Cave, depending on water conditions. Kayak tour guides will dismount their kayaks to safely steer you through this amazing sea cave, if ocean conditions allow.

Kayak out past La Jolla Cove to the kelp beds to look for seals before paddling to the sandy flats to view the harmless leopard sharks from atop your kayak. Finish off this Kayak Tour of the 7 Caves & Ecological Reserve by surfing your kayak back to shore.
