While many people are familiar with Ambrosia's radio hits of the '70s, the songs on their five albums also range to progressive and experimental. They're as comfortable with ballads as with driving rock and roll. They can be serious, they can be playful -- but the music is always rich and the harmonies are beautifully blended. Some of their hits include "Holdin' On To Yesterday," "Nice, Nice, Very Nice," a cover of The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour," "How Much I Feel," "Biggest Part of Me" and "You're the Only Woman." Steeped in the melodic past, King Washington reigns supreme with catchy rock hooks and three-part harmonies. They open the seated show along with DJ Claire. Learn More
The parking is kind of far and if you don't know where it is it is hard to understand. Ask around and plan to get there with enough time!La Jolla Symphony & Chorus: Life ... Made for Sharing info • Mar 18 2014 star this tip starred
The weather was chilly night. I wore slacks, collared button down with sweater. Was consistent with other guests.La Jolla Symphony & Chorus With Pianist Sarah Cahill dress • Feb 10 2014 star this tip starred

Beethoven/Paul Griffiths (text) _The General _(U.S. Premiere)
Edward Elgar Cello Concerto
Special Guests: Maya Beiser, cellist; Philip Larson, narrator
Alexis Grenier, soprano
Beethoven’s moving Elegy for chorus and string orchestra begins a program that features stunning guest artist Maya Beiser performing Elgar’s heartbreaking Cello Concerto. In The General, author/librettist Paul Griffiths draws a composite score from Beethoven (Egmont, King Stephen, Leonore Prohaska and Opferlied) and adds text to create a dramatic work for orchestra, chorus, and actor that tells the story of the Rwandan tragedy through the eyes of the general leading the U.N. peacekeeping mission.
