Dynamic dancing combined with exciting live music equals Lifeblood Harmony, and one entertaining evening. Malashock Dance and Art of Élan are joining forces to deliver three performances from some of the most engaging composers around today. At the End of a Really Great Day is by Judd Greenstein, co-director of New Amsterdam Records, which was instrumental in creating the "indie classical" scene. It's a light and energetic performance based on the philosophy of living life with the hope that you die at the end of a great day. Then things switch into a darker mode with The Dreams and Prayer of Isaac the Blind by Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov, who has also composed for Francis Ford Coppola films Youth Without Youth and Tetro. Finally, Gumboots by British-American composer David Bruce combines the light and dark together to come full circle. The dancing for Gumboots was inspired by a form of dancing from South African goldmines and shows the irrepressible spirit of the mineworkers. All together Lifeblood Harmony is a night of inspiring and diverse music and dance. Learn More
