Utterly Ecstatic serves as both a title and a goal for La Jolla Symphony & Chorus' December concert. Aiming for the sublime, Steven Schick conducts a program that shoots for the stars. He will open with Aaron Jay Kernis' ethereal Musica Celestis (Music of the Heavens) for string orchestra and conclude with a complete performance of Maurice Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe, an opulent ballet scored for orchestra, chorus and wind machine. In between, the Symphony & Chorus will proudly debut a work for chorus and orchestra by Paul Hembree, the San Diego-based composer and Nee Commission recipient. Let the music carry you away when the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus presents Utterly Ecstatic at the Mandeville Auditorium. Learn More

2 One Another--Choreographed by Rafael Bonachela
Australia’s leading contemporary dance company, Sydney Dance Company, returns after a six-year absence under the new artistic leadership of Rafael Bonachela, formerly an acclaimed dancer and choreographer with London’s Rambert Dance Company. His high-energy choreography is realized fully with his 2 One Another, a multidimensional work that weaves a vivid and sensual study of human interaction. Set against a pulsing, pixelated backdrop, Bonachela’s riveting 2 One Another charts the myriad actions and reactions, gestures and relationships, connections and disconnections that make up a life.
