This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic of the American stage is at once funny and horrific and thought by many to represent Sam Shepard at his finest. Mae is hiding out at an old motel in the Southwest. Eddie, her old flame and childhood friend, shows up and threatens to metaphorically and literally drag her back into the life from which she's fled. Their battle plays out as they trade barbs, heartbreak and painful revelations, taking themselves and audiences on an unforgettable journey that demonstrates what happens when love and attraction cross the line to obsession. This was a wonderful production in every way. The acting, the directing, the costumes, scenery, lighting, sound effects & music - all were top notch. I especially enjoyed the fact that it was an MFA production and was so well-done. Professional, intensely creative, meaningful. Two young boys sitting in front of us were mesmerized the entire show. Bravo!

The very underpinnings of American identity are challenged, as a typical family struggles to survive an iceberg, annihilation by coastal flooding, nuclear war and each other.
