Millie Dillmount moves from Kansas to the big city determined to find and marry a wealthy boss, and she has a series of adventures on the way to finding true love. Featuring music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics by Dick Scanlan, this jazz-era musical includes such songs as "Not for the Life of Me" and "Forget About the Boy." Inspired by the 1967 film starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, the musical version of Thoroughly Modern Millie originated at the La Jolla Playhouse before going to Broadway where it earned six Tony awards.

Somehow overlooked the word 'youth' in the original descriptor. Feel rather misled by la jolla playhouse reference. We were expecting a cast of adult community theatre , not a grade school play. The leads, high school age teens were decent and lots of work went into the set and music but we left at intermission. It was great for the parents of the kids but had no business being on gold star. We will definitely steer clear of Garfield theatre in the future.Written on Mar 19 2012
