California Ballet Company's annual production of The Nutcracker is the most highly attended in the county, with music from a live symphony and glittering sets and costumes. That night in her dreams, she embarks on a grand adventure that begins with an epic battle between mice and toys and ends with a journey to the kingdom of sweets. Learn More

The first piece consisted of excerpts from a work in progress; some of the choreography was very interesting, but the parts didn't hang together successfully. The second piece was beautiful. Ms Weare is very successful dealing with individuals, pairs and larger groups. She displayed lyricism, dynamic interchanges and great energy. The dancers were very impressive.
Quotes & Highlights

Kate Weare creates imaginative dances that deal with contemporary perceptions of identity and relationships. Her work explores basic human urges to move and decode movement in the search for intimacy. Her wonderfully intricate, nuanced dance vocabulary is technically challenging yet highly sensuous, if not downright erotic.
As part of Wonderland, audiences will get a sneak peak of Garden, Kate Weare's new work set to premiere this year at the Joyce Theatre in New York City. Garden features the striking physicality and intimate performance style characteristic of Kate Weare Company. It looks at how our individual voices are transformed by intimate intersections with others.
Bridge of Sighs is an ardent and unusual quartet for two women and two men, looking at our instincts – both reckless and wise – that drive us upstream toward love. Involved in intense interludes, each dancer's individuality shines through to fuel a deeply vibrant, wry and tender investigation of partnership and loneliness.
