This was a nice event, though I've seen better ballet folklórico performances in Los Angeles. The acoustics were not helpful. It was a challenge to hear the singer. When she hit the high notes, I finally heard her, but I couldn't hear her when she was singing softly. That wasn't her fault. The acoustics were not working properly. I gave this four stars, instead of three, because I enjoy these performances. I'd like to see more of these types of performances. But the venue needs to do something about its acoustics.
The sparkle of a Mexican holiday celebration comes to the La Mirada Theatre with a vibrant ballet folklorico performance featuring a cast of 30 dancers, 10 mariachis, a singer and a lariat roper. Accented with a variety of seasonal flavors such as a traditional Christmas processional (Posada), a visit from the Three Wise Men, a festive pinata scene, and a spirited finale with Mariachi pizzazz, this holiday extravaganza is also a colorful journey through the popular music and dance traditions that characterize Mexico’s rich and passionate heritage.
