Oh Goldstar reviewers, have you no standards? I was so excited when I saw all the 4.0 ratings, but this play is a HUGE flop. Beginning with an uninspired book ("I just want to play my music my way!"), one-dimensional characters, and tepid romps through the Buddy Holly catalog, this is not a musical - its just a Tribute Band catering to the nostalgia of the over 60 crowd.

Go! This show is even better than the London show I saw years ago. It has much more music and songs are played in their entirety. Brandon, the lead, is fantastic. He really makes it appear he is the real Buddy Holly. The whole cast is great in their respected parts. The cast members play their own instruments and they are great. Richie, Manuel Romero, and Big Bopper are well performed.

Romero's CDs, sold in the lobby, are well worth the price. His voice is very smooth and rich with romantics in English and Spanish. We look forward to seeing him concert as well as the cast in future productions.

My wife, whom is a tough critic, gave it 5 stars. The show flows well and there are no dead spots.

The performance for the Apollo and Clear Lake are show stoppers. The finale is Super! The staging of the whole production is very well done, keeping the focus on the show, story and cast. Kudos to the entire production team.

Another plus for La Mirada, free and plenty of parking. The La Mirada staff are super in customer service from the door, to box office, to seating. The theater lobby gives a great feeling of welcome. A super venue for any special event as well as a fundraiser.

Go! You'll have a great rock n roll experience.

This musical has to go down as one of the best yet - the performance of the Buddy Holly actor/musician was so well done, you actually thought you were back in the 1950's with him. All the musicians were outstanding & all of the music was performed live! I especially loved the way the string bass player had so much action with his large & heavy instrument. He made it look like it didn't weigh anything at all.

The end of this musical was a re-creation of the last concert before the 3 headliners were killed in the plane crash. This last concert was so incredible & it's amazing to think it was done as if we were all in a time warp, sitting right in the audience & enjoying the show they were putting on for us.

In a word - OUTSTANDING!

Music good, acting amateurish....blown lines. The overacting, corn-ball approach and balding Buddy Holly detracted from the storyline.
