Winner of more than 30 international theatre awards, including three Tonys and a Laurence Olivier Award, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake is a triumphant and thrilling reinterpretation of Tchaikovsky's original, Russian folk tale-inspired ballet. Bourne's iconic and breathtaking production -- which revolves around a young crown prince, his distant mother and the swan that represents the prince's desire for freedom -- took the dance world by storm when it premiered in 1995, and is perhaps best known for its replacement of the traditional female corps de ballet with a menacing male ensemble. The performance featured in this stunning, high-definition screening was filmed at London's Sadler's Wells Theatre in 2011 with a cast that includes Richard Windsor, Dominic North and Nina Goldman.
