If you love Lucy and want to know more about her life as she aged, then you should see this play. I'm guessing the other 2 reviews aren't as good because they expected a play about the funny Lucy you saw on the show. But this is based on Lee Tannen's experiences with her before she passed, long after the limelight of her career. Only 2 actors carry the whole show and do a tremendous job. The lead male even plays other characters as well and does great work. It has humor, singing, and dancing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time because I just adore Lucy. It's insightful to see who she became before her death. The author of the book Lee Tannen is also at the show, selling and autographing his books. I highly recommend it.Written on Oct 07 2010

I was glad to have seen the show, but I was neutral on it... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The actors were very good and the set design was nice.. and of course the Laguna Playhouse is a wonderful venue. The writing needs a little work.. but I'm still glad to have seen the show, but I think a re-work or two on the script would make it better.Written on Oct 12 2010

I think this show is a must see "if you are truly a Lucille Ball fan". I loved it! I truly do Love Lucy. The show gives you insite as to what she was really like in the last years of her life. If you are not a Lucille Ball fan I think you will find it a little sleepy, as the man next to me slept the entire show. I though was glued to every word. I think the actors did a great job. The sound needed to be louder as the lady that played Lucy, her voice was soft at times and hard to hear. I met Lee in the lobby after the show, he didn't sell books or autographs the night I was there. I am so glad I went. It has brought back great memories of Lucy as I did get to meet her before she past away. I will always miss her, she was a wonderful Lady!!!!!!!!!Written on Oct 07 2010

This was our first visit to the Laguna Playhouse and what a treat it was to see this great play. It was very well put together, both actors did a magnificent job at portraying Lucy & Lee. It gives the audience a whole new perspective of what Lucy was like during sunset years. I would highly recommend this play.Written on Oct 11 2010
On a separate note, Goldstar was an excellent choice to procure tickets for this event at a 50% discount on the price. I bought our tickets 4 days before the show and wound up with 2nd row seats from the stage.

Description
By Lee Tannen
Based on the Best-Selling Memoir
Directed by: Todd Weeks
Few people knew America’s comic sweetheart, Lucille Ball, the way Lee did. Though distantly related, and 40 years apart in age, Lucy and Lee became the nearest and dearest of friends during the last decade of her life. Get a front and center look at Lucy, the personal side of her very public persona from someone who spent the last of her years beside her while out of the spotlight and around a backgammon table. See what it was like to be her friend, and understand how she was so like and unlike her TV alter ego. Re-live life with Lucy – the stories and shenanigans Lee shared with her – and discover a Lucy like you’ve never known her before. It’s a funny, irreverent, and bitter-sweet portrait that will only add to the love of a great legend.
