After the Fall: Rarely Produced Classic by Arthur Miller from HumanArts Theater Company
- Full Price:
- $25.00
- Our Price:
- $12.50
Based on the playwright's life and considered one of Arthur Miller's most personal plays, After The Fall follows a man on his quest to make peace with his own history and with the tumultuous world around him. This experimental portrait of a man struggling with the choices he has made in his public and private life examines the personal, political and universal forces that collide when we "fall" from innocence. Following the death of his second wife, Quentin tries to move forward, but he must also relive childhood losses, failed marriages and the effects of the 1950s' Blacklist. This rarely produced classic is presented by the HumanArts Theater Company. Learn More

This play is not going to be for everyone -- the humor is VERY black and the satire sharp as a kitchen knife -- but my gosh is it ever a hilarious play. The cast is wonderful and almost laughed ourselves into stomach cramps. But be warned -- this play is not for the over-sensitive! It's a searing critique of todays' voyeuristic tv-watching celebrity-obsessed culture by one of Americas' greatest playwrights. KUDOS to this group for mounting such a fine production like this in Las Vegas, land of "entertainment!"Written on Apr 21 2008

The theater was small but nice. The actors were decent but the storyline was terrible.Written on Apr 23 2008

Description

Onyx Theatre hosts award-winning director Rob Kastil's take on Christopher Durang. Join us for incest, dismemberment and a homicidal laugh track!
Christopher Durang's outrageous Obie winning comedy, Betty's Summer Vacation (a jaded, satirical look at our society's obsession with lurid crimes, celebrity trials and talk show confessionals) opens at the Onyx Theatre April 18th.
Spend the summer with Betty! Her dream vacation at a lovely beach house turns mordantly funny as her roommates arrive: an incessant chatterer, a pathological womanizer, the emotionally anarchic landlady, and a sweet, withdrawn young man who may or may not be a serial killer. All this plus an insane derelict with a penchant for flashing, and a relentless laugh track that won't stop chuckling whenever someone is molested, dismembered or murdered.
Death, murder and mayhem… it's all here at Betty's seaside retreat!

About the Writer
Christopher Durang (Sister Mary Ignatius, Beyond Therapy)
Often embraced by mainstream playhouses, Durang was actually one of the country's leading alternative voices in theatre. A lifelong gay man unafraid to write about taboos, he made his reputation in absurdism and farce after graduating from Harvard and Yale. He is a multiple Obie-winning playwright and has written several screenplays. He is currently a member of the Dramatists Guild Council and a co-chair of the playwriting program at Julliard.
