Now considered America's fastest-growing sport, curling has been a popular ice-based activity in Canada and Scotland -- where it was invented in the 1500s -- for years, and is a new crowd favorite at the Winter Olympics. These non-scary workshops are perfect for those who've always wanted to try the sport, which involves a combination of strength, aim, spatial intelligence, teamwork and strategy. This fun and active class will give an overview of curling and on-ice safety, and teach the basics of delivery (throwing the stone), and sweeping. All equipment is provided.

A group of four of us went and had a fantastic time. Although watching curling on TV looks relatively easy, I assure you at first it is not. This is a sport that takes real skill. However, after about an hour of expert instruction, you start getting the hang of it and everyone did pretty well. I can't thank the instructors enough. They take their job very seriously and really care about helping you. We can't wait for our next lesson. Thanks again!Written on Feb 13 2012

Description
Those planning on trying out curling should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and rubber-shoed shoes. Wearing a couple of layers will allow you to adjust accordingly as you go from less-active instruction in the ice rink to full participation. The club will provide all other equipment needed to participate.
