Kafka was a man who seemingly understood the human condition while finding himself without the courage to deal with that insight. This original production from Insurgo explores his life, his work, and the forces that drive genius and madness.

Morphotic is the manifestation of Franz Kafka's neurosis and self-loathing. It simultaneously explores his fictional work and wrestles with his real-life demons.
Cynthia Vodovoz stars as the writer and is joined by Insurgents Jason Morrison, Brandon McClenahan. F. Ed Knutson and guest artists Natascha Negro, Thom Chrastka, Derrick Stroman, Ariana Miner, and Sarah Spraker. The show features original soundscapes and projections, and choreography by Insurgent Jenna Wurtzberger. The production is created and directed by Insurgo Associate Artistic Director Shawn Hackler, written by Hackler and using works from Kafka.
"It's ultimately that classic story of an artist," says John Beane, Artistic Director of the Insurgo Theater Movement. "Hackler has crafted a feast that is visually and stylistically startling – but what we get to are the things that every man faces. What is an artist? What is a man? How much do we sacrifice for the ones we love before we diminish what they loved in the first place? What is our responsibility to the world?"
Insurgo Theater Movement is a dedicated ensemble that presents the works of international, classic, and avant-garde authors as well as maintaining a rigorous exploration of their own independent theatrical form.
