I saw this show Friday evening with 2 friends and my husband. We all enjoyed the play and thought it was a cute, light-hearted comedy. I think it helps even more since two of us are Brooklyn-Jewish or Brooklyn-Italian. Lots of things we can relate to and laugh about, especially mother/daughter relationships.

Description

Who would have thought that a comedy about two “mature” women and their sexual antics could be all that funny? Probably anyone who has ever seen an episode of The Golden Girls! And it is thanks in no small part to the efforts of that groundbreaking sitcom that the idea of “senior citizen sex” is not the taboo it once was.

Enter Bermuda Avenue Triangle, the tale of two elderly widows, one Jewish (Fanny) and the other Italian Catholic (Tess), longtime friends from New York who are set up in an upscale Las Vegas retirement condo by their career-oriented daughters. Neither of the ladies will concede even the slightest possibility of happiness. They do not even concede they are friends: “Okay, we shop together.” The third point of the triangle arrives in the form of Johnny, a charming and seemingly-helpless scallywag who ignites both ladies (at the same time!), and unleashes a world of love and laughter.

Bermuda Avenue Triangle, written by husband and wife team Joseph Bologna and Renee Taylor, is the next presentation slated to tickle audiences at Las Vegas Little Theatre. Starring as “Tess” is local favorite Lisa Illia, and Marilyn Atkins brings long-suffering “Fannie” to life. John Ivanoff completes the triangle as “Johnny.” Other cast members include Mary Foresta and Jamie Carvelli as the daughters, and Irv Atkins as the hapless “Rabbi Levine.” The production is being directed by Mary O’Brien, with set design by the talented Ron Lindbloom.
