Caribbean Art Jazz Ensemble Performs Live at Montpelier
Caje (kah-shay) -- otherwise known as David Boothman and the Caribbean Art Jazz Ensemble -- supplies the sweet sounds of the islands for those ready to groove to some authentic world music. This instrumental ensemble comes complete with steel drums, marimbas and congas, along with keyboards, sax, bass and percussion, creating their own unique blend of calypso, salsa, samba and reggae. The Arts Center hosts its always lively concerts in its main gallery on the grounds of the historic 1873 Montpelier Mansion, where it also sponsors art exhibitions and competitions.

Piano-jazz master Dick Morgan passed away in 2013, but his music lives on through the talents of his longtime sidemen, now dubbed the Dick Morgan Reunion Band. Morgan was a favorite at Montpelier, who even released a live album he and his band recorded there in '09. For this special show, his musical cohorts welcome Japanese pianist Tadataka Unno. A Japanese prodigy who started to study jazz at age 9, Unno conquered his home country's club scene before moving to New York in '08. Since then, he's released several albums and played the Kennedy Center. Learn More
