October 24-25, 2014: Brent Star & Julie Osborne with Host Katie Causey
Brent Star has been doing comedy since the early 1800s. No but seriously, he started in the theatre in the late ’90s. He went on to co-star in the 2000 national tour of the musical comedy A Good Man is Hard to Find, then started doing his own variety shows where he showcased his different talents. A few years later, he got into drag in 2004 where he learned that sometimes all that glitter can be GOLD. In 2010, after hearing every single day “he needs to do stand up,” he finally went into it. He then combined his drag with his comedy and has been performing all over Atlanta since. He’s a regular at the famous Laughing Skull Comedy Club, and other popular Atlanta stand up spots such as the Limmerick, Buckhead’s Hole in the Wall, My Sister’s Room bar, Smith’s Olde Bar and wherever else he’s in demand. He recently won Atlanta’s local GA VOICE award for Best Comedian for 2013, winning followers for his unique video skits and blogs, featured on the Regular Guys morning show, performed with Margaret Cho and is in the works for an upcoming reality show.
Comedian Julie Osborne, born in Cocoa, Florida, comes from a very diverse background. She started performing stand up comedy in 2011 after spending many years using her wit and humor to “deal” with prison inmates as a corrections officer, and crazy people as a manager in corporate America. In 2012 she started hosting comedy shows for the LGBTQ community creating opportunities for herself and other like-minded comedians.
Host Katie Causey is a comedian and a two-time national competitor at the Chicago Improv Festival’s College Improv Tournament. She’s been a part of multiple improv troupes in Athens and in Atlanta as well as various sketch groups. Whether it’s stand up, improvising, sketch or stage acting, Katie likes to make people laugh.
